President recess appointed Peter C. Schaumber

The President recess appointed Peter C. Schaumber (Republican) to serve as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board. Mr. Schaumber's first term as an NLRB Member began on December 17, 2002 and expired on August 27, 2005. Under this recess appointment, he can serve until the end of the next session of Congress unless the Senate acts on his pending nomination before adjourning. Mr. Schaumber was nominated by President Bush on June 30, 2005 for a second term that expires August 27, 2010.

The two other sitting Board Members are Chairman Robert J. Battista (Republican) and Member Wilma B. Liebman (Democrat). Two vacant seats remain on the five-Member Board. The President nominated former Member Dennis P. Walsh (Democrat) to serve for the remainder of a term that expires December 9, 2009. His nomination is pending before the Senate.
