Tyler
M. Paetkau’s practice focuses on labor and employment litigation and
counseling. He represents employers in state and federal court litigation
involving claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment,
retaliation, defamation, unpaid commissions and wage-hour violations, unfair
competition and misappropriation of trade secrets. Mr. Paetkau also has
experience representing employers in traditional labor-management relations
matters, including union avoidance, organizing campaigns, elections, the
defense and prosecution of unfair labor practice charges, grievance
arbitrations and decertification proceedings.
In addition to his employment litigation practice, Mr. Paetkau regularly
counsels employers on personnel policies and procedures, employee handbooks,
employee discipline and termination matters, workplace investigations,
corporate restructuring, immigration, employment contracts, protection of
trade secrets, employee leasing and the use of temporary employment agencies
and employment benefits issues.
Mr. Paetkau speaks frequently to employer organizations, and has published
numerous articles on labor and employment law.
Mr. Paetkau is active in the community, and has served on the board of
directors of the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy, Inc., a
California non-profit corporation dedicated to treating children with
cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. He has also provided pro bono labor
and employment law advice to other non-profit organizations.
