Alan I. Model is a Principal in the law firm of Grotta, Glassman & Hoffman, P.A., who advises clients throughout the country in all aspects of labor relations and employment law.

Mr. Model’s practice includes the representation of employers in employment discrimination matters, compliance with the National Labor Relations Act, long-term labor objectives and strategies, union organizing campaigns, contract negotiations and labor arbitrations.  His experience in representing building materials and construction industry clients in regard to project labor agreements, pre-hire agreements and prevailing wage laws, has helped to develop the firm’s strength in these areas.

Mr. Model also educates, trains and advises human resource professionals on the drafting of policies and handbooks and provides day-to-day counseling on workplace issues such as sexual discrimination, harassment, diversity and downsizing.  In addition, Mr. Model assists employers in the development of employment and labor strategies required for opening new facilities, mergers, relocations, consolidations of existing facilities, acquisitions of and/or mergers with other entities, subcontracting, RIFs and drafting and reviewing buy-sell agreements for asset transactions.

Mr. Model received his B.A. degree from Lafayette College and his J.D. degree from The George Washington University Law School.  He is licensed in NJ, NY, and PA, and admitted to practice before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eastern and Southern District Courts of NY, and the District Courts of NJ.  In addition, Mr. Model is Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Essex County (NJ) Bar Association.

Mr. Model is also a regular writer on labor and employment law issues and is the Editor of the New Jersey HR Manager’s Report, a monthly publication on cutting-edge topics in employment and labor law.  A prolific speaker, Mr. Model has addressed groups on hiring/firing, sexual harassment, pro-employee relations, as well as those pertaining to labor law for the construction industry.
