Jon Geier represents employers on the full
range of state and federal employment laws, including issues arising under
Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor
Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and the Americans with
Disabilities Act. Mr. Geier is currently spending the majority of his time
advising clients on dealing with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance
Programs. This includes assisting contractors in preparing, implementing
and maintaining affirmative action plans, and advising contractors
experiencing compliance evaluation. Mr. Geier has worked extensively with
clients on challenging allegations made by OFCCP of compensation
discrimination based upon the agency's so-called median analysis. He
served as lead outside counsel to The Boeing Company in the negotiations
that resulted in the November 1999 Settlement Agreement with OFCCP
resolving ten compliance evaluations and establishing the agency's
acceptance of use of regression analysis for purposes of contractor
self-monitoring and calculation of a remedy.
Mr. Geier also represents employers on
labor issues arising under the National Labor Relations Act and the
Railway Labor Act. He has substantial experience representing and advising
management on union organizing campaigns, corporate campaigns, collective
bargaining, and in maintaining operations through strikes. His practice
also includes advising employers in labor law matters relating to
corporate restructuring, as well as strike settlement and back to work
agreements. Mr. Geier has significant experience advising employers on the
interplay of the federal labor and bankruptcy laws.
Mr. Geier has litigated a number of labor
and employment law cases in the Federal courts. He has also represented
air carriers in numerous system board arbitration proceedings and before
the National Mediation Board.
Mr. Geier is a member of the United States
Courts of Appeal for the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Seventh Circuits. Mr.
Geier has been a faculty member in the ALI-ABA Course on Airline and
Railroad Labor Law and at the Annual Pacific Labor Law Conference. In
1998, Mr. Geier spoke at the annual ABA Convention regarding the
Department of Labor's pay equity initiatives.
Mr. Geier received his J.D. degree with
honors from the National Law Center, George Washington University, where
he was a member of the Law Review. Mr. Geier received both a B.A. and M.A.
in History from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the bar of
the District of Columbia. He is married to his high school sweetheart and
is the father of two children. |
