PARTICULAR MATTERS OF INTEREST
   
     *Managing attorney, 1998-94: designed systems for and supervised 8 attorneys engaged in binding arbitration
        under Federal Court consent decree in employment class action against national casualty insurer, including
        systematic selection of 1,000 final class claimants, of which approximately 300 went to contested proceedings
        before Court appointed special masters, the balance having been settled.
   
     *As a Superior Court Judge, heard more than 50 jury and non-jury trials.
   
     *Extensive experience on both sides of public employment, as head of several public agencies (management)
        and as attorney for employees, both as individual claimants and in public employment grievance proceedings.
   
     *Arbitrated politically charged contract dispute between teachers union and large metropolitan school district,
        resolved to all parties’ satisfaction
        *Arbitrated and Mediated numerous contract, tort and other business disputes as private ADR neutral.

1969-1979: Private law practice, general litigation, San Francisco.
   
     1979-1982: Director, California Department of Forestry (“CDF”)
   
     1982-1985: Superior Court Judge, Contra Costa County, CA
   
     1985-1988: General Manager, East Bay Regional Park District, Alameda/Contra Costa Counties, CA
   
     1988-1995: Managing Attorney/Special Counsel under Federal Court consent decree in class
   
     action claims arbitration hearing re sex discrimination in employment, USDC, NDCal
   
     1995-present: Extensive ADR training in Commercial and Labor & Employment issues under auspices of 
        American Arbitration Association, Oregon Employment Relations Board, AAA special program for Boeing Co.
        employment mediation.
RATES
   
    Oregon ERB Cases: $710 per diem; $175/hour for study/writing; no charge for case administration/clerical. No charge for travel time. Expenses of travel at actual cost, including mileage at IRS rate. Cancellation charges: $710 if notice of cancellation 7 days or less before scheduled hearing; $400 if notice 8-14 days before hearing; no charge if notice more than 14 days before scheduled hearing date; no charge for postponement without cancellation if for good cause.

      AAA Cases:  $875 per diem; $210/hour for study/writing.  $500 cancellation fee if hearing cancelled 15 calendar days or less before date.  [Other matters same as Oregon ERB cases.]
